That's going to be a monster machine... and a monster bill. Wink It's more than enough to run Arma2.
After changing motherboard, all looks good.

SSD is worth buying as your OS drive, it gives nice boost for Windows. Not so sure about Arma2. I am currently running it on SSD, but haven't experienced much difference when compared to regular HDD. On the other hand, some users report that it helps with their LOD issues. If you plan to put Arma2 and Windows on the same SSD, you should go with ~60-80GB size.

At least pick two 1TB disks instead of one big 2TB, gives you some extra security. Make sure you don't rely your whole system on a single physical disk.

I can't give you any useful advice on what exactly to buy. I went into the shop, let them put together 2 or 3 alternatives, then I reviewed them for a week and then went back and told them what I wanted.

I'm looking forward to see you again ingame Marto  Smiley

i7-950 CPU isn't compatible with that mobo, it requires 1366 socket motherboard and that one is 1156 socket.

If you stick with 1366 socket 6gb is enough, triple channel memory.

And maybe you'll need more powerful PSU to run all that.

I don't know about SSD, some say it helps Arma 2 to run better.

Generally, it's an overkill, I don't think you need that kind of machine to run Arma 2 properly. But Arma 2 is unpredictable in terms of performance on different machines, so, why not do some overkill just in case.

So I'm getting a new system soon...

I'm looking at the setup below:

Intel Core i7 950 Processor LGA1366 3.06GHz 8MB Cache CPU

mobo: eVGA P55V P55V mATX LGA1156

Gigabyte GTX 480 1536MB 2DVI

Thermaltake EVO Blue 650W w Active PFC 14cm Led Cable Management

Western Digital 2TB Black 64MB SATAII WD2001FASS

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIe, Win 7, Realistic EAX® 5.0 sound effects, 3D audio, Dolby

Mach Xtreme 8GB (2x4G) Armor X DDR3 2000Mhz

Antec Three Hundred Tower Gaming Case- Black NO PSU

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM(Microsoft OEM Terms&condition apply)

Philips 230E1HSB 23inch Black Wide HMDI Full HD DVI Spk 5ms or
Benq E2420HD 24inch Wide 2ms HDMI DVI D-Sub Gloss Spker

Any advice on the above? How would it go with ARMA2/Arrowhead? Other programs I would use it for would be F4AF/Redviper, Jane's F/A-18 and OFP of course... Wink

What about SSD hard disk - is it worth it for ARMA2?

Regards,
Marto.

I haven't found the combined arms anywhere in finland? Tried looking for it! And how does the payment work at sprocket? Could get a digital copy, but I understood that I should somehow make my credit card suitable for online payments... Dunno how to do that but time to find out! No idea in buying them seperatedly!!

I know, CO aint' available here... check your bank's web for enabling the card. You probably can do it online.

Hey guys!

Sorry couldnt make it back Sat night but had a good session on Sunday arvo with Kim, Deano (crazy Aussies) and Osku (crazy Fin), some funny missions with us always getting slaughtered in the end as usual...

Can't make it during the week but I've got this Fri and Sat free - maybe we could schedule a game?

Getting a new system soon, so should have ARMA2 up in the next month maybe...
